What is the lack of early childhood education in China?

and

often have friends ask: “teacher Fang, you have taught the teaching method of early childhood education in the University, why do you rarely see your blog about early childhood education and early childhood education?”

and

are actually very good answers to this question: both Mr. Fang and I, as well as Americans, pay more attention to “smile at the end”, rather than “win at the beginning”. With common sense, we know that the starting point is the beginning, and there is no “win” or “lose”. Only at the end, we can talk about win. Therefore, this is an important reason why there are so many world-class universities and so many Nobel Prize winners in the United States.

and

however, this does not mean that Americans do not pay attention to early education at all! As a matter of fact, the content and methods of kindergarten teachers’ qualification and training in the United States are more strict than those in China! However, the philosophy of American preschool education is quite different from that of Chinese. The main reason is that Americans firmly believe that “winning is at the end” rather than “winning is at the beginning”!

and

this summer vacation, Mr. Fang took a flight from one city to another in China, taking the first-class cabin by the window. At the last moment before takeoff, a father took his three-year-old boy to board the plane. The little boy sat beside me, and his father could only sit on the other side of the aisle. Originally, I could let their father and son sit together, but when I heard the little boy’s first words, I changed my mind. The child said, “Dad, why don’t you buy me a window seat?”

and

the old man said apologetically, “my dear, I’m sorry. Dad doesn’t know which seat is by the window. Shall we change it when we get back?”

and

boys still ask the same question repeatedly, and then jump up and down very unhappily. The towels and juice handed by the stewardess are ignored, and they don’t listen to the requirements of tying the seat belt. The father of

and

had to take down the child’s schoolbag, take out several picture books and show them to him. The boy grabbed one of the three-dimensional books and began to turn it around. He tore it angrily when he couldn’t turn it. Looking at the tattered appearance of the book, he would tear it often. But this book must also be the most attractive to him, because he immediately went down to read it quietly, and dad closed his eyes and fell asleep with satisfaction. When the

and

planes took off, the little boy turned over his books for a few minutes and began to get impatient. Ready to jump up and down. When I saw that several books around him were all in English, I asked him, “can you read them?”

and

little boy looked at me doubtfully and shook his head. I said, “I’ll read it to you, OK?”

and

the little boy sat down at once and said, “OK…” I began to read

and

to him in English. At first, the boy couldn’t understand and was puzzled. However, as I opened every part of the three-dimensional book with my hand, and then repeated the names of each part over and over again, the boy understood and began to read slowly after me: “its powerful engine performed most of the race cars at that time…”

“ At the end of

, I lift the car engine cover inside the stereo book, and he will excitedly point to the engine inside and say to me: “engine!”

“and”

“. In this way, we read a book together, satisfied with the unfamiliar voice and rhythm and rhyme of foreign language, and guess and describe the details in each picture with the most basic words. After playing like this for half an hour, the little boy finally fell asleep.

and

from the boy’s book and cabin, I know that he must be receiving quite expensive early education, maybe “Bilingual Kindergarten” and so on. However, we also see the lack of advanced preschool education in China:

and

first: teach children to behave and be polite together with their parents. People who have learned from childhood that first-class passengers are not upstarts who are rich and bossy, but successful people with temperament and taste. When parents criticize bear children, they should immediately criticize them. Behaviors that are not allowed to appear are regarded as fouls and absolutely not allowed to appear.

and

second: “learning” what knowledge should not be the top priority of early education, and cultivating curiosity is the most important thing. It’s not called “cultivating curiosity” to give a book to children, so it’s necessary to guide them correctly.

and

third: about learning English: children do not need to “learn” any foreign language. They can easily master the oral communication ability of a foreign language through interaction and subtle influence. However, if there is no living environment, this kind of ordinary communication ability will be lost very quickly. Therefore, a solid foundation of mother tongue is more important than a foreign language from primary school.

and

from a small matter, Mr. Fang roughly saw what is lacking in the current domestic early childhood education. Although there are more early education theories in China than in the United States, and it seems that they attach more importance than in the United States, parents need to understand how to make their children grow up healthily and happily.
